25th Jun 2012 - Not sure why i'm bothering with this review as they are packing everything up and redecorating as a trendy new gastro type pub. Anyway it was a place filled with nic naks and working class folk drinking lager and being a little bit loud. Nothing aggressive or intimidating and they were happy to let people join in. I liked the smallness of it and even enjoyed using the ladies loo as the gents was being re tiled in fancy tiny tiles. I think this pub had heart but obviously not enogh people agreed with me or it wouldn't be turning into another trendy gastro pub. I will come back to see if they have anything interesting to offer me. As it was the service was excellent and they offered to change my slightly odd looking ale and even came outside to check if i was still fine with it 15 minutes later. Great service and a good little pub. Not sure which of the local or bar lady got to keep the tom jone figurine but I hope it was the bar lady as her service was excellent.

14th Nov 2011 - It is almost 2 years to the day since this pub was first reviewed. It was chosen for a quick drink despite having been to this site first and reading the review. Two years is a reasonable amount of time, so forgiveness was on the cards.

The pub was fine. The barmaid was perfectly pleasant (it was very quiet at the time) and the pub seemed welcoming. The ale that we drank was awful, but that can be put down to personal taste - it certainly wasn't off.

The outdoor seating was pleasant and it is right next to a Boris Bike stand, making it very useful if you're passing.

It receives a run of the mill 5 points.

15th Nov 2009 - Traditional old-mans-pub interior (with lots of rugby bric-a-brac on the walls) with a mixed clientelle. Food is rather good and the drinks cheap - happy hour weekdays in the early evenings has all beers and wines at £2.75 which is not too shabby at all. So what's not to like? well unfortunately a bit. We went on a Thursday to do the quiz only to find all but one table reserved for locals; that would be fine but don't then put a reserved sign on the table we're sitting at after we've sat down and absolutely don't ask us to move in the middle of our meal.
