10th Feb 2009 - This pub is unique in character. Sitting in the restaurant, you could indeed be anywhere...other than Farringdon. It is pleasant and the staff give the impression of being at your 'beck and call', especially during quiet periods. It is a nice touch, although you can't help feeling it is slightly pretentious at the same time, or maybe that is just me. The menu is impressive, although not at all vegetarian-friendly. There is only one lager available on tap which is a local one brewed in Greenwich, I am lead to believe. It is a small and narrow space, which can get very packed, so perhaps better appreciated at 'off-peak' times..

10th Sep 2008 - Great individual bar/resto/pub type thing. Superb (though pricey) whisky selection. Pewter mugs. Good solid food. Friendly bar staff. A more relaxed, older, less trendy clientelle than other places in the area. Identipub this is not. Try it. Especially the whisky. Oh, the whisky.....

19th Feb 2008 - Fantastically snug gastro recently reopened. Small selection of independent beers on tap and a wider selection of bottled independents. Excellent whisky & wine selection and a top notch menu to boot. Suffers when it's busy as it is very small, but when quiet is a true gem.

13th Feb 2008 - After being closed for about a year, the Fox & Anchor is back and better than ever. It has been bought by the Mal Maison hotel group (a branch of which is just up the road) and has been given a careful and tasteful restoration. Long and thin, it reminds me of a New York style Irish bar. Several nooks, crannies and booths at the back are the ideal place to sit and hide from the world.

A genuine freehouse, all the beers are sourced from the Greenwich Meantime brewery and they are fine, the lager particularly so.

13th Feb 2008 - Fantastic selection of whiskies (& helpful suggestions from bar staff on that front). Good ales served in glass-bottomed tankards. Tasty smelling food which I have not so far been able to sample, although can report that their cheese selection is certainly excellent.

23rd Jan 2008 - Just been brilliantly refurbished. Interior is great - still has the pub feel but feels slighly luxurious with the dark wood, nice wallpaper, huge bar etc. They seem to have a wide range of interesting/exotic beers on tap and the food looked and smelt gorgeous (lots of seafood etc). Only problem is that the long/huge bar and seating for diners means that there's not much space to just stop and have a drink or two if you're with more than two other people. Apart from that slight niggle, it's a great re-addition to the area.
