4th Apr 2012 - A Sam Smiths pub that I have been too on many occasions and will return too again. It is a great location and a basic wood appearance. Feels like a spit and sawdust type pub to me (without the spit or sawdust) and even as it gets busier it has plenty of space especially with the loungy sofa bit upstairs. The food is basic but fine and the beer is the usual Sam Smith selection of which I'm a fan. This pub more than any other I hear people come in order Guinness and storm of in a strop as if not serving Guinness is the most ridiculous thing ever. On this occasion the guy looked utterly perplexed and his wife seemed to panic about what they should do next so I suggested they go to Ireland with a large barrel inserted in their anus. At least I wish thats what I had told them. Must have been a coach load of cranks arrived at the square as the next person trying to get served got all stroppy about how long it had taken to get served. About 2 minutes by my watch which is pretty good in a cue of 15 people. This lady I wanted to slap until I realised how embarrassed her husband was by her. I assume it was a husband and not a carer. Anyway I ordered the Nut Brown Ale found a seat and started bitching about the w**kers i'd just met at the bar. It's always thrilling conversation on a pub crawl with me! Great pub even with all the tourists.

26th Oct 2007 - This is a 'cheap' pub compared to other pubs in the area and has an upstairs which is slightly hidden, so often you can get a seat up there. For those reasons alone, I highly recommend this place, but if you're looking for an interesting food menu or a good atmosphere, you may need to look elsewhere and certainly be willing to pay more.

29th Apr 2005 - Won my biggest ever jackpot on the fruity here. Before I realised that mathematically only a drunk person plays fruit machines expecting to win in the long term. Used to be well placed for the cinema, until that became a boutique hotel. If you are passing, OK, it does have some atmospere, but don't go out of your way.

28th Mar 2005 - Sam Smiths pub doing the usual Sam Smiths thing. Nice interior and the usual range of beers and just that little bit cheaper too.
