24th Sep 2012 - A nice pub this with a sharps brewed beer just for the pub. It was called angels tears and was pretty nice. Well nice enough to order a 2nd and 3rd and recommend it to someone else. It is what and estate agent might call airy meaning high ceiling big windows and light wood furniture. The food looked nice and was looked mostly like nibbles and sharing plattery bits. I didn't see a menu as i was busy trying to work out why there was a big white statue in the corner by the toilets and a rather cool spiral staircase. It was busy without being overwhelming on a friday night so I would come back

4th Apr 2012 - Have been here a few times now, as friends live locally. Nice pub, a little on the pricey side, as you'd expect for the area. Guinness is good, no complaints from the beer and wine drinkers either! We had food, nice and well presented. Wouldn't rush back but would be happy to meet here if suggested.

10th Sep 2008 - Looks a bit daunting and oversized from the outside - but actually very pleasant and relaxed inside, good gastro food, not pretentious by islington standards. Good bevvy selection, not right on upper street so quieter than average (but not empty - again, the size helps here). Convenient for before or after the Vue cinema or the social experiment that is the Islington Sainsbury's....

4th Aug 2008 - Very gastroesque...stripped wooden furniture, high ceilings overpriced tapas (the other food was good though). Mixture of normal people and overly trendy Shoreditch types. They could do with turning the music up a notch so you can actually hear what's being played! Little outdoor seating area for smokers. Nice for a visit but bit on the expensive side

26th Jun 2005 - A very light and spacious bar with rustic tables and battered leather sofas. Saturday daytime the music was really quiet and there was a nice relaxed atmosphere. They have a fruit counter, for natural fruit juices (3.50 a pop). Cocktails are 6.50. Adored the toilets! Very dark with a wishing fountain and interesting decorations, plus Fawlty towers being played out of speakers. Just wouldn't want to attempt the steep spiral staircase when drunk. It also has a sometimes-open upstairs bar.
