5th Jul 2012 - What a good pub. Must have walked past it a thousand time thinking it was just a grotty student pub. I was very much mistaken. It had a great range of mostly american beers and bourbons. All the other drinks were so well hidden behind the long bar that my lady was to scared to order anything so went with water. No other spirits or anything on show. At least i couldn't see them, but I was busy oggling the beer and bourbon. The tables were all busy with people eating some awesome looking grub. The place had a real buzz and simple yet grand decor. Eventually we went upstairs and saw a few bands. The first were like a boyband trying to be rock stars and doing okay at it, the second wanted to be jarvis cocker doing mellow stuff and the third who were using it as there album launch were just sounded like a bunch of buffalos having there testicles removed. Any way I enjoyed the night and will be returning for the food.

16th Jan 2010 - Some things change some things stay the same; or so several lyrics would have it. Whatever the history of the line it's an aphorism that well describes the latest incarnation of the bar at 96 Pentonville Road. Still loud and still open until 3 at the weekend, but some things have also progressed at The Lexington. Decor in the bar has changed and the theme now is loosely American; 19th century rifles on the and skulls on the wall lessening the kitsch beige leather from before. Behind the taps it's a similar story. There is a genuinely impressive collection of bourbons on offer as well as half a dozen or more American bottled beers the likes of which you seldom see this side of the pond. The kitchen looks to have suffered in the transition with lacklustre food. Not a problem really for a Friday night but perhaps disappointing for the bar's 'Lounge' incarnation at other times of day. It's by no-means a bad place but you may be disappointed if you don't have a clear idea what it's like before you go; it's still loud, fun and young at the weekends.
