24th Sep 2009 - Nice pub, great food though the menu took some time to decipher (handwriting was scribbly). Menu changes daily and has a good rounded choice of different fish, meat and a veggie option. A quirky mixture of chairs and tables, from plush sofas to bar stools. A bit too noisy if you plan to actually have a conversation but has a nice warm buzz overall.

27th Jul 2007 - The Eagle is great. The first and best gastropub for a decade, though beginning to show its age and to date a bit in 2007. Food still good quality, more highly priced than in the past but still a good deal. Either you like the easygoing, anything goes for eating and drinking, no separation, all together chaos that is the Eagle's style or you don't. I love it and so do many others - hence it has remained successful (and much copied) for so long. Come for a piece of London pub history - and then try the latest incarnations of the formula that revolutionised London's pub grub scene.

12th Sep 2005 - Not bad for a gastro pub (then again it is said to have been the first of its kind). It has that whole high ceilings/wooden floor thing going on so it's always noisy even when there's no music playing. Fairly good food but it just doesn't quite feel right - can't imagine spending an evening or an afternoon here but pop in for a quick pint/glass of wine if you're in the area.

12th Sep 2005 - The Eagle is well documented as being the first ever 'gastro' pub, meaning that it prides itself on the quality of the food served while still retaining the essence of being a pub. I haven't actually eaten the food but I've seen plenty carried past my eyes and it looks ok. Beer is ok too, and the place was filled with arty types, plenty of solo drinkers with a book and a pint. Not the kind of place you'd go to with your mates to get drunk.
