17th Aug 2007 - used to be The Grove (traditional pub where Robbie Coltrane drank) then a BRB. Now - well - what the hell is it? It is designed as if it were cutting edge 5 years ago - but seems over done now. They tried too hard. Definitely a gastro - but a gastrowhat? not a pub - but not really a bar either. Is this the first gastro-restaurant (a restaurant trying to look like a bar?). Reminds me of the "Living Room" chain. There is an interesting ethnic themed back room where the garden once was. In summary, this place doesn't work. And the beer was off. Try the Dark Horse or the Sun and Doves for a more authentic and pleasing gastropub. (btw didnt taste the food so cant comment on that). On a positive note, we played jenga which passed the time well.
