8th Nov 2007 - Gastro thing in Farringdon, probably hoping to get trade off the nearby and much better Eagle. It is split into two, a clear restaurant bit and a more pubby, but in no way a pub, bit. I just can't see anyone going here for a quick pint after work, which is surely what all pubs, gastro or not, need to help pay the bills. Lunchtime was quiet bar a few arty types who had probably had an appointment at The Guardian office which is opposite. Staff were very friendly, but I'm afraid that won't be enough to make me come back here.

8th Nov 2007 - Open again the Bowler 'has looked more publike in the past'. Definitely on the Gastro end of the scale now, the interior is dark walls, floorboards and art on the walls. If you're looking for tradition you will be disappointed but the interior is actually rather homely. Staff were friendly and attentive though again traditionalists beware: the bar is heavier on cocktail spirits than ales. Food is gastro but I must admit I was underwhelmed with the the plate I received. The Bowler definitely has potential, though they need to iron out some of the kinks.
