30th Jun 2008 - This pub has crept, albeit slowly, back in to my good books. Several years ago the prices were cheap and the food generous. A change of management saw this change for the worse. However, several iterations later, things are on the up. A new menu with generous portions and value for money prices means this pub is back on the lunch rota.
Still a pub at heart, the furniture has now dipped it's toe into lounge bar territory. A couple of sofas and a coffee table acompany those tall tables that are high enough to lean on if you can't get a chair. It's ok, it works, but having the sofa so close to the tall tables does give a slightly lop sided feel to the room.
Two big TV's and two little TV's are somewhat incongrous with the furniture but again they are ok. You don't feel like you're in an old man's boozer nor do you feel the filth of being in All Bar One, but somewhere happily in between.

8th May 2007 - Recently renovated the City Pride has lost a fair amount the character that it once had: it has become rather bar-like now with leather sofas and lots of light wood. Food has deteriorated somewhat though it was nice to see that the kitchen is now open until late.

28th Nov 2005 - Friendly bar staff and food is OK (used to be v good but has gone slightly downhill). They need to sort out the upstairs as it feels a bit like a village hall - formica tables/no music/draughty windows etc. Could be a great pub if they spent a bit of money on it but seems to do ok nevertheless.

15th Sep 2004 - Good pub with some good ales at reasonable prices. The front of the pub opens up in summer which is nice and the food is of good quailty and in large portions. There is an upstairs but noone ever seems to go up there.

15th Sep 2004 - Good pub all round, but the best thing about this pub is the food - large portions of good food for not too much money. It's a great pub to go to for lunch.

15th Sep 2004 - Unfortunately no sporting facilities, but you can't have everything.
Can get a but busy at prime lunch time, but you can get a seat the rest of the time.
A good standby, and a nice place to spend an evening. If you go you could also check out The Betsey Trottwood and The Horseshoe which are nice pubs nearby.
